The Housing Subsidy Scheme(HSS) was envisioned by the welfare department of the Himachal Pradesh government and was put into action in 1975. Under the scheme, the destitute population of Backward Classes is provided with subsidy grants for the construction and reconstruction/renovation of Houses and for buying house sites for construction. The subsidy is catered by the state’s welfare department, rates of which are fixed now and again.
